I have writers block. Or is it bloggers block? Well, whatever it is, I have it. That and a headache that’s lasted since Monday.
Last week I took the babies binkys away. It was time. They really don’t need them anymore and the late night, blind binky find in the middle of the night was getting obnoxious. I better clarify before DH reads this and calls me on it. Waking up DH every night to do the blind binky find in the mittle of the night was getting obnoxious. Back to the important part…I figured Bubba would be fine. He didn’t really use it much anyway, he prefers his two fingers. As long as he has his blankie to rub on his face and two clean fingers he drifts off to dream land. Darling on the other hand loves her plug and is the culprit of the middle of the night wailing from tossing the pacifier down between the bars and the wall right to the place my DH’s outstreached fingers can’t reach.
BEFORE said binky banning, the babies were perfect sleepers. They took two, 2-hour naps and still went to bed at 7pm. They were happy, well rested and the easiest babies! Since the removal of the binkys, we’ve had NO naps. None, not one! There has been screaming, crying, cranky and downright mean babies! They are so exhausted!
I knew it would be hard for a few days and nights, but I really didn’t think they would drop naps altogether! They don’t cry at first. They talk to each other, they throw everything out of their cribs and then the jumping starts. They hold on to the rail and jump like monkeys until someone falls, bonks their head and starts screeeeeaming! I usually go in after they’ve been in there an hour (not crying an hour) and lay them back down to try again. The process repeats and after the hour, when someone is hysterical, I go in and get them out of bed, run them wild, feed them lunch and about 3 hours later, we do it all again. They do go to bed without a peep at 7pm.
I’ve thrown all the binky’s away. I will not succumb to the temptation!
