Back to Business!

February 28, 2007

FINALLY! I am back to business as usual! I bought a new computer last weekend and had the computer guy fix it all nice and pretty for me. He pulled off my entire life from the hard drive of my old laptop and put it here on the new one. I was so worried that something would have been lost or destroyed after sitting in a puddle of Code Red, but it appears that everything is in order – it’s just a little tricky finding everything on Windows Vista. Hopefully I’ll get the hang of it soon enough. I missed Tackle it Tuesday and Works for me Wednesday, but I’ve got some ideas that I’ll work on for next week. My menu seemed to be pretty popular, so be sure to check back next week for some more great recipes!

I’m an Addict and Drama IS My Middle Name

February 21, 2007

Nothing little ever happens to me.

I’m not joking either!  If something is going to happen, it’s going to happen big.

I’m not just going to get a cold, I will probably get a cold, then the flu then possibly kidney stones which will make me think I’m dying all night and when I wake in the morning I’ll be totally fine- except that I can’t usually function on 2 hours of sleep.

I’m not going to loose my house key, I will probably lock the house key with both two sets of car keys, my cell phone and a child in the car.  (Yes, twice in one month thank you very much.)

I’m not just going to get an enormous belly full of twins, I’m going to have the weirdest water blistered, streched out freakishly large and blob shaped pregnant belly in the history of America.  It’s even worse now that the babies are 18months.

I’m not going to get a wee little virus on my computer, I’m going to get it frizzled into a whirring brick of smoking, black nothingness with no hope of retrieving my precious photos, digital scrapbooks and worst of all, the taxes that I had just finished preparing.

I can deal with being sick, the kidney stones, paying the locksmith an unreasonable amount of money to bust into the ‘burban, but I absolutely cannot deal survive without my computer!!  Last night, when  had found an entire can of soda over my laptop, I was so sick to my stomach that I almost fell down on the ground and bawled my eyes out.   I somehow had the resolve to pull myself together and be brave and hold in the tears until the kids were tucked into bed.  Only then could I sit on the couch and hold my precious PC and wallow in my misery!  Okay, so I didn’t really cry, but I told you, Drama is my middle name.  Instead, I had to cheat on my  wounded computer and use DH’s computer to check my email and check up on my blogs.

I woke up this morning already slightly freaking out.  DH leaves early and I knew he was taking his computer back to work with him.  I called his cell by 8:30am to beg and plead him to run over and buy me a new computer and bring it home by lunch.  He tells me that it’s just withdrawls and to go play with the kids.  (For the record, I don’t ignore my kids)

I’m an addict.  A WWWing, blogging, emailing, ebaying, noggin.com-ing, chatting, digital scrapping addict.  I love to hear the email chime.  It really does make my heart skip a beat.  It prides me to return your email within the 5 minutes you sent it to me.  I look up recipes, maps, and count on the latest babble over at Daring Young Mom to pep me up during the day.  I search for rash remedies, toddler twin triumphs and even for a newer, bigger, better and faster computer so I can search for and save many, many more *things* that I’ll just tuck away and probably never look at ever again.

I like to be an addict.  It’s theraputic. It’s calming and relaxing to my soul.  The brief windows of opportunity I have to update my iTunes, or flip through some old photo folders gives me the break that I need to deal with the chaos that consumes my life!  And I love it!  (I love the chaos too, to tell you the truth!)

If you’re reading this blog, you’re probably just like me…..Addicts Unite!  Who’s with me?
