“Apparently” I Need Censoring

While blog browsing (which is what I’ve been doing instead of writing on my bloggy here – because let’s face it, there are only so many child-free computer minutes in the day and by the time I’ve read and browsed and been inspired to write something witty, a little someone or two of four is needing me and there goes a blog entry for the day. Don’t get me started on my family blog….it hasn’t been updated since Easter. I need a blog assistant. Ahem, husband.) (And obviously I love parenthesis, but that’s a whole different topic.)

As I was saying, I was blog browsing some of my standards and came across a post over at Mormon Mommy Wars that made me chuckle out loud. *parenthesis* And that my friends is an rare feat. *end parenthesis*

They’ve had their blog rated and as stated there: “Apparently it’s because we say crap.”

Crap, I say ‘crap’ at least once every 5 mintues, so I wondered what my blog was rated. I clicked on the link and ta-da!

“Apparently” I need censoring because I say crap, crack and dead.

My husband doesn’t watch rated R movies and now I guess I can’t let him read my blog.

I Love Crap

My garage is trashed.

It gets cleaned every month, but when a project arises, every morsel of craftiness that I’ve collected needs to be strewn all over the garage floor for ultimate crafty inspiration.

Part of the problem is that I must craft on the kitchen table so I can watch the kids play inside and outside and have quick access to the soda fridge. So, when it’s time for a quick clean up so we can actually eat dinner on the table, bins and boxes get tossed into the garage. Yeah, maybe they could be put away nicely, but then I would be listening to the nonsense I tell my kids everyday about cleaning up after themselves….

My husband hates craftiness. I *think* he likes that I ~AM~ crafty, but he hates the mess (so do I, but until I get the craft room of my dreams…..), he hates the bins of fabric and paper and every bit of yarn, ribbon, thread, buttons, pipe cleaner, paint, froufy fringe and assorted “CRAP” that is located in the garage. I’m convinced that he loves me and that’s the sole reason he puts up with the Crap.

Me + Crap = Love. I love it. I love to browse it, buy it, sort it, re-sort it, ink it, cut it, paste it, spray paint it. I love to create spectacular things and even though it looks like I have every supply I’ll ever need, I’ll be buying more Crap to create something else spectacular next week, if not tonight. It’s almost my birthday and I thought I’d post a little bit of link love full of more crap I ~~want~~ *ahem* need. (Read: Sweetie, if you aren’t going to take me to Paris for crepes, I’ll settle for more crap for my birthday!)

K and Co Tote
This K and Co. Tote is just about the coolest bag ever. The photo really doesn’t do it justice, it’s quite thick and sturdy. I saw one at CKU Anaheim and the group of ladies who had them had actually purchased them off QVC. Unfortch, they are no longer there, but 2Peas is selling them for only $30.

Epson 1800
I currently have a digital scrap addiction. (You can read about the new obession at the newly brought back from the dead ScrapJunkie). Which makes my husband ask, why can’t the aforementioned CRAP in the garage be thrown away? My answer: because I like both, and I’m the Mom. That’s why.

After helping Jessica Sprague with her digital classes at CKU Anaheim, I have got to get my hands on this Epson 1800 12×12 printer. We printed out hundreds of layouts AND THEY WERE AMAZING. This could possibly convert me to 80% digital scrapping, 20% paper scrapping. I can hardly contain myself from purchasing it today. You can bet if I don’t get it for my birthday, I will be purchasing it the day after to add to my collection of crap.

There are a few more additions, but it’s time to get ready for Tootsie’s ballet recital.

The Great Frozen Egg Debate

Here I am fresh off a girls weekend full of scrapping, scrapping, more scrapping, eating, giggling, trash talking and staying up until all hours. For the record, I always used to be able to stay up the latest, but in my old age (ha, ha, I’m not even 30!) I can’t make it past 2am, but apparently some girls can giggle until 4am and still wake up looking cute, refreshed and without bags under their eyes. Not me. Get me in bed by 10 or I’m a cranky mess. Thank goodness I have friends who can over look my crap and orneriness and still like me.

Anyways, we had a fantastic and relaxing time. It was great not to worry about changing poopy diapers, being the daily toy referee or listening to whining for a few days. My husband, being the great guy he is, had everyone in bed and a spic and span house ready when I arrived home late Sunday night. That was probably the best part – I didn’t have to come home to clean up.

We ate lots of delicious things up at the cabin. My favorite was Chella’s Fruit Pizza. I always thought they were much more complicated, but give this easy version a try. It was tasty and I ate about half the pan. I may have to go out tonight and get some ingredients to make it for tomorrow’s breakfast. Maybe I’ll make it tonight and eat it before the kids wake up.

We had so much left over food that we had to pack it back in our cooler and haul it down the mountain. Hopefully Chella doesn’t mind me giving out so much information….BUT she pumped and froze enough momma’s milk over the weekend which kept our food cool all the way back down the mountain and for a several hour stop for a kid-free Outlet Shopping Center extravaganza. This is what froze my eggs.

I had 2 dozen eggs left over and they were carefully packed in the cooler and kept cool by said boobie milk. I went to crack an egg that night to make some crepes and they came out frozen solid. It was the strangest thing I have ever seen. I whipped up my 5 frozen egg whites and yolks with milk and they seemed to smell okay. The consistency was a bit thick, but after adding the flour it all appeared normal. I have to say, the frozen egg mixture made the best dang crepes ever. I may have to partially freeze my eggs for the next batch I whip up. It’s going to start The Great Frozen Egg Debate as soon as my husband hears he ate frozen eggs.

My So Called Perfect Friends

I have this great neighbor, whose name shall remain anonomous, but anyone who knows me could probably guess who she is. If she reads this, she’ll be embarrassed. BUT, she’s one of the reasons my life is so called perfect!

One child is puking, she saves the day.

One child needs a ride to or from school several times a week, at the last minute and she saves the day, not caring if we’re taking *even* turns carpooling.

She’s flexible, she’s easy-going, she takes my crap and still asks how she can save my day.

She lends me eggs, pineapple and chicken and her husband to help put up garage shelving which saves my husband from breaking his arm/neck/back which not only saves my day but a trip to the ER.

She’ll watch all 4 of my kids so I can run an errand without loading and unloading everyone never mentioning she has 200 other pressing projects to take care of at home. This saves my sanity and makes my kids day.

I love her! She’s the best! She’s the perfect neighbor! (If only I could get her to come scrap with me!)

It’s great mommy-friends like this who make the chaos that is my life seem less-burdened and lots more manageable! I have girlfriends who take care of me and my family without batting and eye and who give me advice. (Whether I like it or not!)

My friends make me dinner even though I haven’t had a baby recently. My friends corral the kids so I can go to the scrapbook store without 80 reams of 12×12 paper spilling all over the aisle. (Oh the horror!) My friends drop off a super-sized Diet Coke (or Code Red *hint, hint*) WITH a supersized straw when I’m at home doing 18 loads of laundry so I can sip on something other than a CapriSun.
